Overview
The Meikai connector brings your brand's AI visibility data into Google Looker Studio. Build reports and dashboards on how AI assistants mention your brand and its competitors, and which sources they cite, next to the rest of your marketing data. Every figure is calculated by Meikai for the exact chart you build, so reports match the Meikai platform's definitions.
The connector reads one brand per data source, with a read-only reporting key. It cannot change anything in your Meikai account.
1.What you need
- A Meikai account with Brand Monitor access to the brand you want to report on
- A Google account with access to Looker Studio
- A Meikai reporting key for that brand (see the next section)
No Meikai account yet? Book a demo and our team will set one up. Existing customers sign in at app.meikai.ai.
2.Create a reporting key
- Sign in to Meikai and open Profile (your name at the bottom of the left menu), then API keys
- Choose the key type Looker Studio reporting
- Pick the brand, give the key a name, choose its lifetime and select Create key
- Copy the key, which starts with mk_report_. It is shown only once
A reporting key reads one brand and nothing else: it cannot reach other brands, change data, or use the Meikai API or MCP. Keys last 90 days by default and at most 365 days. Revoke a key from the same list at any time; reports using it stop loading straight away. Treat the key like a password.
3.Connect in Looker Studio
- In Looker Studio, select Create, then Data source, and choose the Meikai connector
- Select Authorise and allow the connector to connect to an external service. It can only reach Meikai's reporting API
- Paste your mk_report_ key and select Submit. Meikai checks the key before the connector stores it
- Choose the dataset, then select Connect and Create report
- Add charts and set the report's date range
Each data source stays tied to the brand of its key. To report on several brands, create one data source per brand, each with that brand's key.
4.Datasets
Brand performance
Classic visibility, share of voice, responses and mentions for your brand, by date, AI platform, topic or prompt. Turn on Include competitors to compare your brand with its tracked competitors.
Source domains
The domains AI answers cite for your brand's prompts, with citation counts, responses citing each source and share of citations.
Source URLs
The same citation metrics for each cited page.
Leave metric aggregation on Auto: Meikai computes ratios and distinct counts for each chart. For year-over-year or month-over-month figures, use Looker Studio's comparison date range on a scorecard or time series. Answers to common questions and every error message are on the connector support page.
5.How your data is handled
- The connector sends your reporting key and each chart's request (dates, fields and filters) to Meikai's reporting API, and returns Meikai's figures to Looker Studio
- Your key is stored in your Google account's Apps Script user properties for this connector, separately for each brand. Select Revoke access on the connector in Looker Studio to remove the stored keys
- The connector does not read your Google Drive, email, contacts or any other Google data; its only Google permission is to connect to an external service
- Looker Studio reports run with the data source owner's credentials, so anyone you share a report with sees its figures without a Meikai account. Revoking the key stops new reads, but cannot recall data Google has already cached or that viewers have exported
Meikai processes this data under its Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. Google processes the data in your reports under its own terms for Looker Studio.
